Boutique hotel in Riga Downtown
This interior architecture project for a six-storey building with a rooftop terrace located in Riga Old Town. The first two floors are a location for St.Petrus restaurant while the remaining four floors houses a boutique hotel.
The new building, which in 2015 won the Latvian Architecture Award, is one of the few XXI century architecture pieces that harmoniously complements the medieval architecture in the historic downtown area. After examining the last century architecture of the plot, architecture office Jaunromāns and Ābele, revealed an existence of three stylistically different buildings. A testimony of history became a starting point of the architectural concept.
Respect for the history and contemporary architectural quality continues in the interior concept. Irregular shapes of architecture significantly affected a functional plan. Architecture prevailing sharp-edged and robustness corner, in interior hidden behind a plastic and flowing lines, thus creating a proportional, logical and clear layout of the space.
The intended audience of the hotel is travelers who appreciate quality, design with identity and advantage of the location. Therefore, our purpose was to create an atmosphere that associates with visitor`s private living space. To create this home-like atmosphere, we think a lot of about how do people perceive visual effects with different senses – hearing, sight, and sense of touch. Conceptually, each hotel room giving the feeling that it is a home away from home.
